In this 2 part video series we examine the Vedantic validity of the top 3 justifications that have been submitted by the Sabarimala Temple Authorities before the Supreme Court, in support of the temple’s practice of banning women in the menstruating age group of 10 and 50 years from entering the shrine.
In this particular video, which comprises Part 1 of our Series, we examine the Vedantic validity of the first 2 reasons which have been offered by the Sabarimala Temple Authorities, namely:
- Lord Ayyappa being a Naishtika Brahmachari (eternal celibate), his vow of celibacy will get disturbed if women in the menstruating age group between 10 and 50 years enter the shrine, and secondly
- The celibacy of the male pilgrims too will be shaken by the presence of young girls and women in the menstruating age group.
Finally in Part 2 of this video series we will examine the Vedantic validity of the third and the last justification offered by the Sabarimala temple authorities, which is that:
- Menstruating women are traditionally considered impure in Hinduism and their presence will therefore pollute the temple’s premises and make God angry.
